Furnishing Innovation

While lifestyles change and evolve, so does your home.

We design furniture that fits your lifestyle for today and tomorrow.

In 1981, when waterbeds and futons were the hip new furnishings, Mark Valone had a vision for something different. He wanted to create furniture that combined forward thinking innovation with the comfort, safety, durability, and affordability of American classics. So, Mark did what entrepreneurs do. He created AFI Furnishings and began designing and manufacturing timeless furnishings that could be sustainable and affordable for everyone.

More than 40 years later, AFI Furnishings is a global leader in safe, sustainably sourced home furnishings. Mark continues as Chief Designer, guiding our team as we continue to push innovative furniture design in exciting new directions. Guided by ingenuity and built on sustainability, our designs are executed by specialty builders around the world. All materials are thoroughly inspected for quality at our warehouse in South Deerfield, Massachusetts, before making their way to your home in the form of comfortable, sustainable furniture that’s built to last a lifetime.

OUR STORY

A-America®, Inc. a pioneer in the furniture industry, has been a leading provider of high quality solid wood furniture for over 45 years. A family owned and operated business, A-America was founded by two brothers, Fred and John Rohrbach, both graduates from the University of Montana and smoke jumpers with the U.S Forest Service. They both served their country with honor during the Vietnam War with John in the U.S. Army and Fred in the 173rd Airborne brigade.

A-America was founded in 1973 when the two brothers began importing ceramics from what was then South Vietnam. With the fall of Saigon (Ho Chi Minh City), the Rohrbachs had to retrench. Fred was one of the last Americans to be evacuated from Saigon, on April 29, 1975 from a rooftop to the U.S.S. Blue Ridge in the South China Sea.

It was after this that the brothers went to Taiwan and started buying antique reproductions such as solid oak dining tables, brassware, cast iron and nautical antiques. In fact the arrowback and wide or double pressback chair was found by John in an Idaho antique store and used for inspiration to manufacture it in Taiwan in late 1975. A-America was one of the first companies to introduce the concept of importing U.S. hard woods into Taiwan in 1975 to make quality furniture.

Fred later served nine years on the board of directors of the National Smokejumpers Association and was instrumental in doing the first two-hour video on the history of smokejumping as associate producer. Fred and John also co-authored one of the first post war picture books on Vietnam called ‘Vietnam: Opening Doors to the World’ published in 1988. Devoting his time overseas and maintaining key relationships with highly skilled furniture manufacturers, Fred Rohrbach is an example of a true businessman. Today he continues to travel to Asia, keeping strong ties, which is one of the many reasons why A-America has the best quality furniture in the U.S. with competitive pricing.

The Rohrbachs’ expertise in importing and knowledge of Asian countries and cultures ultimately gives A-America an enormous advantage over other importers. A-America was one of the first importers of oak furniture from Taiwan and continues to be a pioneer in the furniture importing industry; as one of the first U.S. companies to import furniture from China with American styles and quality standards.

Headquartered in the Seattle area, A-America is one of the few manufacturers that produce quality solid Hickory, Oak, Mahogany, Cherry, Birch, Pine, Maple, Ash and Alder furniture. A-America’s products are focused in value priced solid wood dining tables, chairs and master suites. Over the years, our company has extended the product offerings into formal dining, bedroom and collections. A-America will always be known as the leader in the casual dining category and extensively detailed bedroom furniture. Our designs have evolved from the original nostalgic solid oak tables and chairs to fashion forward styles and finishes to meet many customer needs.

One of our core values is giving back to the community that we are a part of. Last year, AAmerica proudly donated a portion of our profits to a variety of non-profit organizations including St. Jude’s Childrens Hospital, Mary’s Place, and the World Wildlife Fund. Our donation to the National Forest Foundation enables 500 trees to be planted in Iceland.

To support the company’s growth over the years, A-America employs a knowledgeable, service driven customer relations team, an experienced sales force, Asian manufacturing and full time quality control staff overseas. We are well stocked in our domestic warehouse, and dedicated to quick ship delivery from Algona, Washington & North Carolina.

We are your ONE SOURCE for beautifully crafted solid wood furniture.

Based in Galax, Virginia, Vaughan-Bassett Furniture Company manufactures bedroom furniture. In 1919, two men, B.C. Vaughan and J.D. Bassett, Sr., both of whom were from Bassett, Virginia, first founded our company. Mr. Bassett, Sr., and his brother, C.C. Bassett, also founded what today is well known as Bassett Furniture Industries.

Employing over 500 craftsmen in factories based in Galax, Virginia, we are extremely proud of the fact that 100 percent of our furniture is crafted here in the United States by American employees. In fact, Vaughan-Bassett is now the largest manufacturer of wooden adult bedroom furniture in the United States.

Most of the furniture we manufacture consists of wood solids and wood veneers grown and is harvested near our plants in the Southeast. Pine, oak, maple, cherry, ash, poplar, birch, and beech are the primary species used in Vaughan-Bassett’s bedroom collections.

Our number one priority is providing our customers with unmatched service, quality, and value. In short, nothing makes us happier than to make it easy for our customers to feel at home.

All Vaughan-Bassett chests and dressers are engineered to comply with ASTM International F2057, a voluntary stability standard for bedroom storage furniture, and have earned the third-party UL Stability Verified mark. Furniture tip restraints and instructions for installation are included.

We strongly recommend using the tip restraint hardware to securely anchor this product to the wall.  In homes where children reside or visit, we advise you to anchor all chests and dressers.
